Website Development & Management
We Manage Websites and Make Updates
Website Management
A lot of websites look fine at launch and quietly fall apart over the next twelve months. Plugins go stale. Performance degrades. Security vulnerabilities pile up. The design that made sense when you launched stops making sense as your business evolves. And somewhere in the gap between “built” and “maintained,” the site stops working as hard as it should.
Good website development isn’t just about launch day. It’s about building something that holds up, stays current, and does real work for your business over time — generating leads, converting visitors, and supporting your broader marketing efforts.
At Lionwish, we build websites with an SEO-first mindset and a developer’s attention to the details that actually matter: clean code, fast load times, logical structure, and content that search engines can understand and index. We also maintain what we build — because a site that’s fast and secure on day one should still be fast and secure on day three hundred.
Most business owners don’t need to understand every technical layer of web development — but they should understand what separates a site that performs from one that just exists. A well-built website is fast, secure, easy to update, and built with search visibility baked in from the start. A poorly built one looks the same on day one and costs significantly more to fix later.
The work spans multiple disciplines: new builds, ongoing maintenance, platform management, e-commerce, and performance optimization. Here’s how we approach each one.
Website Management Services
Website Design & Development
Building a new website — or rebuilding an existing one — is both a strategic and technical exercise. We approach every build with performance and search visibility as non-negotiable starting points, not features you add at the end.
We handle the full build: information architecture, wireframing, design, development, content integration, and launch. Whether you’re starting from scratch or migrating away from a platform that no longer fits, we build sites that are fast, clean, and built for long-term growth.
Good for: Businesses launching a new website, outgrowing their current platform, or rebranding. Also right for sites that are technically sound but underperforming because they were built without SEO or conversion in mind.
Website Maintenance & Updates
A website isn’t something you build and forget. Plugins need updating, content needs refreshing, performance needs monitoring, and security vulnerabilities need to be patched — consistently, not whenever someone remembers.
Our maintenance plans keep your site running at full capacity: regular plugin and core updates, automated backups, uptime monitoring, security scanning, and a responsive point of contact when something needs attention. We handle the ongoing work so you don’t have to track it yourself.
Good for: Any business that has a website and doesn’t have someone internally responsible for keeping it current, secure, and healthy. If you’ve ever had a site go down and found out from a customer, this is for you.
WordPress & CMS Development
WordPress powers a large portion of the web, and when it’s set up correctly — with a lean theme, well-chosen plugins, and a sensible architecture — it’s an excellent platform for business websites of almost any size.
We build and customize WordPress sites with a focus on speed, usability, and maintainability. That means theme development or customization, custom plugin integration, page builder work, and a setup that makes it easy for your team to manage content without needing a developer for every edit.
Good for: Businesses that want a CMS they can actually use, organizations moving off a proprietary or hosted platform, and teams that need a WordPress site built by someone who understands its limitations as well as its strengths.
Website Design
We design websites that look intentional and work hard — clear visual hierarchy, purposeful layouts, and a user experience that moves visitors toward action without getting in their way. Good design isn’t decoration; it’s the difference between a site that converts and one that just exists.
Every design decision gets made with performance in mind. Page speed, mobile responsiveness, and accessibility aren’t things we bolt on at the end — they’re built into how we structure and develop the site from the start, so the finished product holds up as well under the hood as it looks on the surface.
E-commerce Development
Selling online requires a different approach than building an informational site. The architecture, performance requirements, conversion optimization, and integration work are all more complex — and the cost of getting it wrong shows up directly in your revenue.
We build e-commerce sites on WooCommerce and Shopify, with a focus on fast page loads, clear purchase flows, and integrations that actually work. We also help existing store owners identify and fix the performance and UX issues that are costing them conversions.
Good for: Businesses launching an online store, scaling an existing one, or dealing with conversion rate or performance issues on their current e-commerce platform.
Website Speed & Performance Optimization
Page speed is a ranking factor, a conversion factor, and a user experience factor — and it’s one of the most consistently overlooked aspects of web development. A site can look great and still be bleeding traffic and leads because it loads too slowly or fails Core Web Vitals thresholds.
We diagnose and fix performance issues at the technical level: image optimization, server response time, caching configuration, render-blocking resources, third-party script management, and anything else contributing to a slow experience.
Good for: Sites that are ranking but not converting, sites with declining traffic where technical performance is a suspected contributor, and any team preparing for a major content or SEO push who wants the foundation in order first.
Our Approach to Web Dev Services
Most web development engagements end at launch. The agency builds the site, hands over the keys, and moves on. What happens next — whether the site stays secure, loads fast, gets updated when WordPress releases a critical patch — becomes entirely the business owner’s problem.
We approach it differently because we came from the SEO side first. Every website we build is built with search performance as a foundational consideration, not an afterthought. That means URL structure, page speed, structured data, crawlability, and content architecture are thought through from the start — not retrofitted six months later when someone notices rankings aren’t moving.
We also work with a small number of clients at any given time. That keeps the work personal and the communication direct. If you have a site emergency, you’re not filing a ticket with a support team you’ve never spoken to.
And because we also run SEO and PPC campaigns for many of our clients, we think about your website the way a marketer thinks about it — as a channel that either earns its keep or doesn’t. Every build decision gets made through that lens.
What to Expect
Discovery & Planning. We start by understanding your goals, your audience, your existing technical situation, and any constraints — budget, timeline, platform, or otherwise. No project starts until we have a clear picture of what we’re building and why.
Design & Development. We move from wireframes to design to development in a structured, review-driven process. You see the work at each stage and have clear opportunities to provide input before we build on top of it.
Launch & Handoff. We handle the technical side of launch — DNS configuration, redirects, indexation checks, and post-launch QA — then make sure you know how to manage the site day-to-day. If we’re handling ongoing maintenance, monitoring starts from day one.
Ongoing Support. For clients on maintenance plans, the relationship doesn’t end at launch. We monitor performance, apply updates, handle content changes, and stay available for questions and new work as your business evolves.
Common Questions
Web Dev FAQs
How long does it take to build a website?
It depends on scope. A clean, well-structured business site with 10–20 pages typically takes 6–10 weeks from kickoff to launch, assuming content is provided or developed in parallel. E-commerce builds, complex integrations, or large content migrations take longer. We’ll give you a realistic timeline during discovery — not a range wide enough to cover any outcome.
Do I have to use WordPress?
No. WordPress is often the right choice for business websites because of its flexibility, content management capabilities, and the ecosystem around it — but it’s not always the right fit. We’ll recommend the platform that fits your actual needs, which might be Shopify, Webflow, a static site, or something else depending on your situation.
What’s included in a maintenance plan?
Unlike SEO, paid search can drive traffic and conversions immediately after launch. However, new campaigns typically need 4–8 weeks of data collection and optimization before they’re performing at full efficiency. Google’s Smart Bidding algorithms need time to learn conversion patterns, and new ad copy needs time to accumulate performance data. We set realistic expectations upfront and define clear performance milestones.
Can you work with my existing website?
Usually, yes. If your current site has a reasonable technical foundation, we can build on it — fixing what’s broken, improving performance, adding functionality, or handling ongoing maintenance. If the foundation is too compromised to work with cost-effectively, we’ll tell you that honestly rather than bill you to patch something that needs to be rebuilt.
Do you handle hosting?
We don’t sell hosting, but we’ll help you choose and configure the right environment for your site. Most of our clients use managed WordPress hosts like WP Engine or Kinsta, or cloud-based solutions. We’ll make sure the stack is set up correctly and that your hosting isn’t the performance bottleneck.
How does website development connect to SEO?
Directly. The way your site is built determines what Google can crawl, how fast it loads, whether your structured data is correct, and how well it handles the technical signals that influence rankings. We build with SEO in mind from the start, which means you’re not paying to fix a broken foundation after the fact. If you’re also running SEO services through us, the work is coordinated from the beginning.
